While we are bigger advocates for living ethically and authentically every day, not just on highlighted days or months, in light of everything we want to acknowledge our support of Pride and all human beings in the LGBTQ+ community.
PATA’s goal is to protect the individual seeker of healing through psilocybin-assisted therapy. Our pillars are to offer resources and information to the individual (whom we refer to as a seeker) to empower them to choose how to improve their emotional and mental health. We have not selected or excluded certain people for this education, empowerment, or healing. Every person deserves it. It doesn’t require a my-way-or-the-highway approach. If one person feels better and healthier, their example and influence sends that out around them in a ripple effect.
But it will take a critical mass of seekers to pursue and achieve healing and recovery in order to address the mental health crisis. One individual or one group cannot carry or dictate healing for another individual or group. This is one of many reasons why it is essential to be inclusive.
The use of psilocybin for healing is still considered a cutting edge idea, despite decades of healing supported by scientific research and anecdotal evidence. The momentum of positive change through psilocybin has been slowed in many ways over the years and has just started to regain its strength. We keep this in mind and do everything possible not to hamper the delicate but advancing position it is in.
When we support each other’s healing, respect each other’s choices, and believe in the benefit of individual differences, we set an example for younger generations to be respectful, health-minded, and growth-minded people. This is what will help solve the mental health crisis - not calling people out, challenging who they are, or being fearful of that which you simply do not yet understand.
This month, next month - and, what the heck, how about every month?? - let’s highlight the potential of psilocybin to help each adult person to better understand themselves and others, and life in general. It can be rough out there. You never know what battles another person is facing. What goes a lot further than judgment and criticism are compassion and a spirit of generously withholding judgment and criticism.
